City’s MURP building community capacity in Atlantis through training

The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Management, Alderman Grant Twigg handed over certificates on Saturday, 11 September 2021 to 17 community representatives of Atlantis who successfully completed Capacity Building Training facilitated by the Mayoral Urban Regeneration Programme (MURP) during June 2021.

Community representatives identified by Subcouncil 1 attended the seven-day Capacity Building Training in June 2021.
 
The training covered the following learning areas:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Leadership and Governance
  • Conflict Resolution and Management
  • Fundraising

‘I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that the City has given us with this training. It has helped me to develop personally and as a result, I am a stronger and wiser person,’ said Tyler Washington, one of the participants.

‘Interacting with the community representatives that participated in the training, I am so happy to hear their stories of personal development. Positive training interventions such as these are necessary as it helps holistic growth and development. At the same time, these participants also feel empowered, as the skills that they have acquired will enable them to influence positive change in Atlantis,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
